taboo topic? i hope not. anyhow, i trust this forum more than any other because of the insight and maturity present.

my question is this. how does sex affect spirituality and the development of the soul? :confused: i have done some research and recall hearing that certain practitioners of meditation (the name skips me at the moment) practice chastity in order to preserve the "elixir, sacred fire, gods water" in order to reach higher states of conciousness. by chastity i do not mean total absitnence, but the forbidden fruit, the orgasm. :eek: how does this tie in to ascension? i was always under the understanding from personal feelings that life was the experience and that nearly all actions should be taken as an experience (assuming that no one gets hurt, done in moderation, and such).

i read that orgasm can stimulate different types of energy, but it depends on whether, i suppose, the act is one of self-gratification, or love......or both.

i wonder whether souls will have a need for relationships in other dimensions? i am very interested in these topics. what about "twin souls"?

i think self-denial is just another path of delusion.

i always thought that sex and spirituality were pretty closely connected. unfortunately our american society has all sorts of hangups about this, and thus it deprives us of a valuable teaching tool. the practice that you mentioned (of arousal without orgasm), can be very powerful, because the orgasm releases all the energy. so if you don't release the energy, you can harness it or direct it. this is a fairly simple process.

suppose for instance that you decided that one of the things you needed to work on is your heart area. for instance love; empathy; compassion; forgiveness, etc. then you would get the arousal energy worked up, but this time, instead of seeking release you would direct the energy up thru your chakra system to your heart area. you can almost feel this as a physical process, and with a little practice you can feel and direct the energy mentally, physically and emotionally.

one of my best friends who has also been on a spiritual path for many years, was divorced and lived alone for quite some time. he would always do this; he would transmute the sexual energy into spiritual energy, and it worked very well for him. however, he eventually met a woman he was attracted to and he decided he wanted to have a relationship with her. now the problem was that he had trained his body to automatically transmute all of his sexual energy, without even thinking about it. so it was extremely difficult for him to un-learn this process, his body would no longer 'hold' the energy in the lower chakras, it would simply flow up thru the chakras like he taught it to.

the ancient egyptians who were taught as initiates in the mystery schools were taught a lot of sexual procedures as well. for example they thought that the release of semen was a dangerous drain of energy. they actually believed they could die from too much of it. so it was very important for them to learn to direct the energy. they would visualize the energy as it left the body exiting out the front, then making a complete circle over the head, coming around and entering the back, so that it was not lost. they called this the key of life and it was often symbolized by what we now call the ankh.

it depends how one experiences sex.
according to the law of one there are energy transfers during sex.

total abstince can be helpfull for personal development but like everything this totally depends from person to person. sex can bring healing, and is an amazing way to experience the oneness of this creation with somebody you love, if both realises that they are a unique part of infinity expressing itself through this body and merging through sex then some amazing stuff can happen.
it can also create suffering if it is experienced on a negative way, rape, not respecting free will etc...
some enlightened masters of the past gave up on sex because they are not interested in it anymore, they're just busy with other things.
there is also a lot of confusion in our society about sex. a lot of our television shows are focused on sex but on the really cheap way which doesn't go further then the superficial levels of sexual experience.

and ameliejolie according to the lawofone relationships are still happening on a higher dimension. maybe not in the same way as we are used to it now.
which is logical because here on earth there are also many different types of relationships, polygamie, monogamie...
one big difference with 3d and 4d will be the total presence of love all the time :) relationships are a part of this universe. all connected in a most unimagible way...

i believe it was in neale donald walsch's "conversation with god" books that there was a discussion about sex. sex is a tool to open up the chakra's. it was used as "carrot" for people to practice getting the energy from the base chakra up to the pineal or crown chakra.

i had it occur to me early on with my sexual experiences. when the energy actually got up to my crown chakra it was like in the movies with fireworks going off in my head. unfortunately i have not been succesful in reproducing this effect often enough.

of course that is not the only purpose of sex. there are other dimensions to it as well, such as reproduction and intimacy, and as an expression of love. it is also the greatest living metaphor for two people to become as one and create.

this is very interesting to me, as many find the subject to taboo to touch, so they ignore it, but it really is one of the more important subjects as we all at one point in time need both physical and spiritual fulfillment.

i also just watched this movie. it brings up very interesting points and i suggest those who posted up on this to watch it if you have an hour to spare. it's rather deep, and touches all beliefs and their relationship to sex. plus it would help further discussion on this topic if others are interested enough in it.

as for being "one of the main keys", i couldn't say for sure, i would say probably. it's hard to tell exactly what all was taught in their ancient mystery schools, because of the lack of detailed records. i learned most of what i know from a local teacher who spent most of his life studying that era of ancient egypt.

some of his knowledge and wisdom was learned first-hand instead of just researching other people's writings. he would go to the pyramids and since he learned to know the guards, he would bribe them, to let him into the unofficial and off-limits areas. he would talk about things like sneaking into the king's chamber at night and spending the night lying in the sarcophagus. he described it as almost like a merging of dimensions. he also said it was one of the most intense experiences he ever had.
