but does it involve any pain? some times i feel like my dna is changing but it is a painful process. any body else?
:(
more of the physical issues i experience i contributed to the opening of my heart chakra, or green-ray energy center. so, yes, i would expect there to be some pain. what are you experiencing?
in addition, i have heard alot of people complaining about headaches that last upwards of 5 days or more - so much so i thought it appropriate to add here. anyone else hearing of "anomalies" like this?

physical symptoms can occur when kundalini energy starts to rise.
verm,
i'd definitely agree with you, having experienced the kundalini shot myself. however, the experience wasn't painful, but kinda like it sounds - a swelling of "energy" at my base that ran up through my spine to the crown of my head. it happened while in a deep meditation.
so, following the analgous kundalini rising and chakra cleansing, i'd propose most physical symptoms to be chakra imbalances or blocks, which, would affect someone's ability to charge their kundalini, correct?
the reason i mentioned the headaches is because i had learned somewhere that we will begin to synchronize our brains - i think the actual term is bilateral synchronization - thinking with both our logic and feelings - not one or the other. for people not used to this, yes it can be similar to a headache. i've used some binaural beat cd's in the past which has facilitated this change for me. in other words, i chose to "nuture" this process willingly, where others, who likely have no clue whats going on, may be feeling the effects as headaches...
of course, this is all speculation - surely someone else could chime in as i am open to more refinement of these ideas...
one question i do have is -
is the kundalini "shot" a one-time thing? in other words, this particular sensation happened to me only once. there are times i can feel my energy body "supercharging", but nothing similar to the "shot" i felt that day...

as someone who had no clue as to what was going on (kundalini rising about eight years ago), i can assure you the symptoms for me reached far beyond headaches... i was left with an injured back and unable to walk for almost six months as well as a number of other aches, pains and emotional trauma. i didn't even know what a chakra was at the time.
from my experience, once this process began, which was extremely powerful, it was impossible to stop. fortunately my higher-self intervened (i refer to as my 'guide'), and guided me through a transformation. i didn't know this being was my higher-self (for lack of a better word), i just accepted that he (it appeared as a male figure), was some divine being there to help me as i felt i 'knew' him on a very deep level and the trust was there.
i was guided to transform all of my emotions (fears) into feelings (love). this took approximately two years and each time the kundalini energy moved to a higher chakra, i developed dis-ease in an organ of that area. but the key was to transform the emotion and not run to the doctor to be fixed or to find a band aide solution with pain killers.
i experienced several beautiful revelations during this time, but it was also very difficult to have to face my fears and transform them. no stone is left unturned during this process.
having gone through this, i would suggest that anyone who wants to activate their kundalini energy should do so with as much knowledge about this as possible. particularly, learn about chakra energy first. blocks in a person's chakras cannot always be cleared simply by meditation... the emotions causing the block must be honestly acknowledged and transformed which can take a lot work in some cases because those blocks are caused by emotions of fear such as jealousy, anger, etc. etc.
kudos to those who have the knowledge and wisdom to nurture this process willingly! :)

zephyr,
thank you for sharing your experiences. honestly this is the first time i have heard of someone experiencing this much pain/suffering from kundalini activation. wow. i'm sorry you had to go through that.
i guess the adage "no pain, no gain" works here, huh?
thanks again - lady, not sir. :d

thanks art. after a couple of years, i got on the internet and researched my experiences. i found many, many accounts of kundalini experiences far worse than mine. at least i didn't end up in the hospital like so many others, dan winters being one of them. he had a story up on the net about his experience when i was investigating. most people were warning of the dangers of activating this energy without proper guidance.
maybe things have changed now - i haven't looked into this subject recently.
i would still ask others to be careful and know what they are getting into by activating this powerful energy.

a good series of books on the possible pitfalls of kundalini awakening is written by gopi krishna. i believe it took him twelve years to get the symptoms dealt with. it turned him into a genius though and he could write in languages he had never even been in contact with.
