[note from moderator: i understand that this site can be confusing, so i am releasing divine cosmopolitan's post here for everyone. you may find answers for these questions in our "announcements" section at the top of your forums screen.]

what do i have to do to get every post on this forum mailed to me??

there are so many categories, i have no clue how to keep up with all of them.

on the yahoo site, every post was right there in order, now it seems like i have to click all over the place.

im soooooo confused.

there dont seem to be as many posts on this new site either.

i dont think im the only one who is lost in all these categories.

will anyone even read this? or will it be lost in some sub-category?

yes, i can assure you that we read each and every post made here on this forum.

sorry you are confused. i will try to help you.

there is an explanation of how to get email's for the forum in the faq (look at link at top of this page).

also, there is more information in the announcements forum.

and lastly, although we offer a service to have these forum posts delivered to your email, we much prefer that you come here to read the forum posts.

why?

there are several reasons why, but mainly because there is more to this website than this forum and the posts made on it.

david writes in his blog almost everyday... so coming here allows you to see what he's written. this blog is made available to everyone including those who have not signed up for email notices.

other important announcements are made here from everyone working with david (including information about his new movie and book).

we want one common place (this website) where all of david's information can be accessed by everyone. (including those who are not subscribed to his email list or old yahoo forum list).

email is not a publicly viewable common place... it is merely a message delivery mechanism and is viewable only by those who sign up for it.

we want everyone to be able to view these posts and david's material.

this is one of the many reasons we left yahoo and moved to our own forum software.

please take some time to read the faq, and other help sections to learn how to use this website... it is considered a web 'standard' and conforms to all known established web protocols.

so learning this will help you with all other websites that follow these standards also.

hope this helps!

best to you!

i check this forum a couple of times each day.

if you are signed in, simply click the "new posts" link and see _all_ that is new.

i find this forum to be not only incredibly easy to use, but also the most valuable source for the info i am most interested in (in addition to david's blog).

way better than being hosted on yahoo groups.

thanks to everyone involved :)

i feel pretty much lost in this forum space and maybe that's a good thing. i think part of why i feel lost is that the threads go off on tangents and the subject line may not evolve to reflect the threads reach, or else be similar enough to other thread subject lines that they seem indistinguishable, i.e.2012... another reason i may feel lost is some of the threads seem to move or disappear for whatever reason, but then again that could simply be coming from my pretty much lost perspective. in a sense, a labyrinthian effect may have some advantage over other organizational structures.

dude, or dudess, whatever,

when you were born into this meat-machine, did you not get the instruction manual that came along with it? no, i didn't either. but we learn despite not being taught how to learn, and if we keep at it long enough, we may actually gain some knowledge along the way.

this site really does come with instructions. so, like any good book, just crack the cover, and start back at page one, again...

another thing i think is helpful to know, is about the icons to the left of every post.

a yellowish folder icon signifies you haven't read it yet. but a red/flaming folder icon means that the topic is "hot" and read/replied to many times.

also when looking at the main group of subsections, if the title is bold, that means there are new posts within that section.

that's helpful to know. i wonder why my name has an asterisk beside it. i tried to find out once in the faq and profile section but nothing came to light

asterisk? where?

you mean the little dot beside your name in your post?

well every forum is different. sometimes those are indicators of how many posts you've made, or how active you are in the forum. however, there is a place on the right side of every post that shows total number of posts.
