i think if the sun has this mass, it would be 'in our face', don't you think?

any discussion on the prologue?

hello,
i have started to read divine cosmos and have a question?

>if we remember that the sun contains fully 99.86% of the mass in the solar
system, then we can easily see that it wields the strongest thermal,
gravitational and electromagnetic influence<

i think if the sun has this mass, it would be 'in our face', don't you
think?

dw: if you add up the combined mass of all the planets, gas, dust and other
bodies in the solar system, it is only 0.14% of the amount of mass that the
sun has. the sun is really, really big...

peace be with you -

so the sun is alot bigger than i thought! soho lasco c3 doesn't do it justice!

another question:

we live in an ever-expanding universe. could there ever have been a time when all our planets were in the same orbit around the sun?
