edgar cayce, through his readings and dreams, was told that virginia beach was the place for him. the cayce hospital was built on the highest sand dune at virginia beach, overlooking the atlantic, with views of beaches and ocean.
e.c. was told that he should be near large bodies of water for the best use of his powers. in all his incarnations, water had been of great significance for him, and many events important in his development had taken place near water.
water, so the readings say, is the symbol of life, or spirit, or of the relationship between god and man, or man and his/her fellowship. its spiritual symblim is expressed in our ritual of baptism. so for him, it was particularly signifiant that his work entered its most important phrase after he came to v.b. and settled in the "old headquarters" on arctic avenue. this was near a lake separated from the ocean by only a few hundred years.
discussion: true, there is something to say about water in general and its energy and healing values. afterall, we are of water and earth. many books discuss and have proven that the life force within water can be effected by the surrounding thoughts that they are subject to. both negative/positive thoughts do changed how water reacts.
question:
- water: is there a difference in the water types i.e. sea water vs lakes or spring fed ponds?
- earth: i know the sand on our beaches are very cystalized and this substance alone can enhance healing. mud baths have also been popular in healing or enhancements of self.

i dont know if theres a difference in the types, but i do agree that water brings a healing focus. the ocean scares me though, so i would prefer to live somewhere near falls or an active stream.
there might be a difference between water that moves (ocean, falls, streams) and water that usually lies 'complacent' such as lakes, due to the highly charged atmosphere of energy moving water creates. i do notice personally that looking at a glass of water doesnt stir me so much as watching it run out of the faucet, or hearing it.
i have a little water fountain in my room, i havent used it for awhile this is reminding me to do so :)

perhaps cayce was born a water elemental.

i'm going strictly off memory here, but i believe water ( like waterfalls, the sea, etc) create negative ions, which are supposed to purify the air and created a lightened, relaxed mood. which makes sense...
also water in mountainous areas.. i suppose the action of the water in motion, for example a pounding surf, is the key.
i know i'm drawn to water, even water fountains seem to relax me. someone with more scientific knowledge of this can probably explain it better, but i definately there is something to it.

last night i was listening to an audio track of falling rain, and i instantly felt peace and tranquility seep through me... and that was just through headphones. its even more amazing than that in real life of course.
do you get in a sort of trance, with water? i can stare at water coming out of the faucet (as long as its slow enough that the water is still clear vs the white it gets when the pressure is high). or like at water fountains, especially if the sun is glittering off the water... its amazing.

i think water is a wonderful substance, and am very glad i read the knowledge that we can energize water with our love to create a healing effect.
i once read a sci-fi book that talked about astral travel and they said that when in the astral body, water should be avoided as it's turbulent nature would disrupt the astral body and could cause the silver cord to break & one to be lost, never being able to return to their body. does anyone know if this has any truth to it, or if it was just another story?

i am going to post a link to a story passed through the ages of the cherokee. first i want to say that i have great peace with the water. i can swim well and i feel at home in the water.
i used to live by the sea and i can still stand next to it and remember how small i am. i am sharing an interesting take on water and water holes.

purple dragon, i don't know about the effect of water on our astral body. interesting ..
schaqq i love the sea too! the sounds of the waves, just looking at the huge expanse of water with the waves rolling in. i want to go to the beach this summer lol

its amazing. i know what you mean about fountains, especially outdoor fountains. the sound of the water, the slight spray that hits your face from the wind, the sun reflecting. no matter how cold it may be, i cant resist putting my hand in :)

i just finished watching battlestar galactica, and something the cylon's did to communicate with each other is all put their hands in a big tub of water that had a hybrid cylon hooked up inside as well. by all putting their hands in the water an electrical current was formed, enabling them to know each other has one.
shows seem to be able to pull information like this from somewhere, so it's possible that this is a real thing that someone has tried out, anyone know of any real life experiments like this? water does seem like a powerful source, so maybe it's possible

this wonderful water discussion brought to mind the information about water crystals that i first heard about in the film what the bleep do we know? in this film, a scene talks about the power human emotions and intentions have over water (and also about how as human bodies, we are almost all water). according to this research, water is able to be charged with what we send to it, and by being mostly water, our feelings about ourself can manifest itself in our watery bodies. this research is being conducted by dr. masaru emoto whose books messages from water, inspired the film.
here is a youtube clip of this scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpnlco5apre
since learning about this, i have begun praying over water before i drink it, sending it positive messages before i put it in my body.
i also have always adored water (when i was a child, i would pretend to be a mermaid in the pool) and felt at home in the water. i don't have any fears related to any types of bodies of water (though don't get me going about heights :) ) a while ago, when i first began the process of awakening, i would have reoccuring dreams where i would be on a beach and the waves would come in further and further in land, i would run from the water, but always, the water would claim me, and take me out to sea. these dreams were always positive, though in the dream i would run away. i haven't had this type of dream in several years since i began to actively accept myself, to search for meaning and truth, and to begin trying to be more spiritual. i took the dream to symbolize this awakening process and the unevitableness of our coming home, that the knowledge will get us one day, even if we run away. the day i stopped running away was the day the dreams stopped.
water is so wonderful! cleansing, nourishing, and holy!

a whole host of great sharing here., my mind did not even go to the water falls, yet, i love the beauty and sound of them. (sound waves) :) came to mind.
the electrical currents that runs through us all seems to connect with me as well as purple dragan says: by all putting their hands in the water an electrical current was formed, enabling them to know each other has one.
the theme that seems to be running, is keep the energy flowing, like streams, the water is best when it is flowing vs stagnant where algae can start to grow. in our own lives, this is so true....
i do know for me, when i am in water, i feel peace within.

one other water experiment that i have heard about is taking 2 dishes of rice, writing positive words on one container and negative on the other. after time elapses, it seems that the rice with negative wording on it goes moldy faster than the positive rice. water seems to resonate with the love we send to it and can pass that love on to physical matter.
a quote i found from ra where they are discussing how to nurture carla to re-energize her:
ra: we suggest first a brief period of silence. then the repetition of the instrument’s vibratory complex of sound in your density which you call name. repeat until an answer is obtained. then the laying on of the hands at the neck region for a brief period so that the instrument may recharge batteries which are not, shall we say, full of the essence of this particular field at this time. and finally, a gift of water into which the love of all present has been given. this will restore this entity, for her distortions contain great sensitivity towards the vibrations of love and the charged water will effect comfort. do you now understand?
after reading this a while ago, i also try to energize the water i consume with love, the same as jehanne just said.

this is really interesting, thanks! i have to see this film

i love water as well - ive always had a weird issue with drinking it though... from an earliest age it would make me gag. i finally found a brand i can handle hehe
i love swimming as well, and pools of water.
for me though, again, the ocean and really deep water scares me because judging by my reactions to it im pretty sure i drowned in a previous life. could also be related to the problem with drinking the water.
i took the dream to symbolize this awakening process and the unevitableness of our coming home, that the knowledge will get us one day, even if we run away. the day i stopped running away was the day the dreams stopped.
i was reading one of davids blogs about how cars and other modes of transport can also reflect our progress with spirituality.
obviously, if you start moving around and covering a lot of distance in your dream landscape, this indicates major spiritual progress. most people really don’t travel very far in a dream, because obviously the farther you go, the more of your soul you are activating and energizing.
by the same line of reasoning, anything that allows you to travel farther and faster than you can by walking alone – even a set of roller skates or a bicycle – symbolizes some major new spiritual understanding that you have come to. a car is an even more powerful symbol, and short of flying on your own, without gadgets, the ultimate symbols we have are buses, trains, cruise ships or airplanes.
its kind of funny my last job was for princess cruises lol anyways so the ship is more semblance of water as well. ive dreamt the car part, and heres the thing i question...
whenever i do dream the car, i always seem to have full control of the car, or my actions(?), so that you could say the driving was reckless. like i felt i was going to fast for example. changing lanes barely in time, and sometimes having to squeeze in between other cars to get in that lane etc.
i wonder if this means similar to like your dream above - about the knowledge getting us eventually.

sounds like maybe your dreams are kicking it into high gear with the amount of knowledge we are all learning these days. faster and faster we are progressing, what are we moving faster towards is the age old question that no one can answer, and yet deep down we all know what is coming. maybe it's just about accepting the reality that everything moves so fast that we can make time stand still (if that makes any sense?)

i am up at 1:48 a.m. my time. ack.... ! lol i am supposed to work tomorrow... anyway, i was reading again these post all you wonderful people have made regarding water.
then aqcheryl's dream reference reminded me of something i should have remembered earlier but didn't.
all my major dreams will always have water in them, in particular having the same dream three night in a row where i drove my car ( reminds me of aqcheryl there too) down a ramp, ( under some bridge so it was dark like ) and into the water for the purpose of dying.
the first two nights i didn't really want to do it but felt compelled to, and came back to the surface pretty quickly , gasping for air.
the third night.. i was in the dark water and looked down to my side and saw these beautiful cherubs with a glowing light around them and music i can't remember. i was immediately drawn to them and forgot to breathe but it was okay... i found i didn't need to.
however, a man slightly above me, again to my side, got my attention and said it was not time yet, i had family to take care of. i was very disappointed!
as for the cherubs.. no idea.. i am not christians and haven't a clue why i'd dream of cherubs. but this was years ago and it's one of a few dreams that sticks out. the others have water involved too! often driving into the water.
just really strange how i'm finding connections to all of you here and feel drawn to this place now.. :-) i am extremely grateful to hear your stories and be able to share mine. thank you guys and gals! :-) all of you ...

yes, it does :) i just wish it didnt have a dangerous feel to it lol but i suppose with jehanne, the ocean coming after them felt dangerous as well.

o. m. g. you reminded me of something similar! i have, at least three times, dreamt the same exact dream in which id be driving down the highway for a lonnng time... for example im in los angeles, and id take the 5 all the way down to san diego or something right...
as i got further and further into unfamiliar territory (and i should not once outside of orange county it is all unfamiliar haha, but in the dream it didnt feel unfamiliar until towards the end) i was choosing which roads to take. i had people in the car with me, i know i cared about them i just dont remember who they were.
the roads soon to become closer and closer to water, and surrounded by them, either ocean, or a bay or such. as i was driving, its getting later and later and visibility is not the best. you know how when you are surrounded by water at night, even with streetlights everything just seems blacker? well i cant remember if i choose this one road or if due to low visibility i couldnt see any signs, but we were getting off of the main freeway and onto a detour. as we are going, it looks like the detour crosses this bay of water to connect to the other side of the city. it seems like thats where we are supposed to go... but the further we get into the bay its even more darker and its not until the last moment and much too late... hitting the brakes does nothing... apparently the road wasnt finished, and no matter what i try to do to stop the car, i cant - everytime ive dreamt this... and we end up sinking in the water.
and being that deep water scares the carp out of me lol
you could say it was a nightmare but i dont believe in them, because a) i woke up, and b) whats a nightmare but how we perceive it.
but your description reminded me of this dream. i havent had it in a very long time. but you know... now im probably going to have it tonight. argh lol
(on a side note on repetitious dreams... is there anything to them... im sure im not the only one whose dreamt the same exact dream several times throughout their life. when i was little i had several recurring dreams about star wars... never had them in adult, just when i was a kid.. but i saw luke and all of them crossing my elementary schools track that was a lower elevation then the school, and it was all sand... and towards the end something happened and it became quick sand, and then the others got out but luke was sinking. and the thing was if you sunk all the way your skeleton would reappear and it would be coated in green (like dye not goo)... and yet even then i knew i could save him lol)
however, a man slightly above me, again to my side, got my attention and said it was not time yet, i had family to take care of. i was very disappointed!
could this be a nde? we all at some point stop breathing at night. its good to know then we are not alone in coming back.
as for cherubs, im not entirely sure they are christian...?
it depends what kind. according to wikipedia the 'chubby baby' ones are actually called putti and are mistaken for cherubs... i guess this is like comparing fairies to elves lol
it seems however at the same time though, that eros is considered a cherub. now if the greeks considered him as thus, then we can definitely concur that its not wholly a christian belief. and that being the case, it might lead to a different door to understanding their semblance.
and im reading some scholars believe that the origins of cherubim actually stem from the mesopotamian shedu, which was half man, half bull, with wings (perhaps later christianity converted to full man then)... but the ideology being the same. and according to their beliefs... "the bull man helps people fight evil and chaos."
so in that sense it could be quite possible those cherubs were representing order from the chaos you were experiencing under the water (ie helped you realize you didnt need to breathe, and thus not 'drown'?)
and i concur, thank you to everyone on these boards, its so refreshing to be who we are without fear of recrimination.
