i wonder, why do some people become so numb and indifferent to suffering and lose compassion? i also wonder, why doe some people cut themselves?
sometimes i wonder if its because people dislike their incarnation or something...

cutting is an attempt to release otherwise un-expressible formless rage. one could think of it as a partial suicide.
the cutting is not so much an attempt to hurt the self as it is an attempt to excise the psychological demons within. these are the demons that torment the mind into a depression where there is no feeling of self. yet there remains a longing for a return to a forgotten wholeness.
the pain of the cut sometimes releases endorphins giving some sense of relief temporarily.

it gives a person the illusion of control or domination over ones self, usually people whom have little control in regards to what is happening in there life or environment revert to hurting them selves as its the only way they know how to relieve the feeling of not having any which might be labeled confusion and frustration which then leads to rage that needs to be expressed.
