i am curious how atlantis 'sank'

to me it seems as though the sea rose up.

how did it all pan out?

according to one myth, the sins of atlantis caused the god's to punish atlants by pulling them into the sea.

other theories are that it did not actually sink, but froze.

if you look at the ancient maps that was given to plato by the egyptian pharo, atlantis looks exactly like antartica without the ice (except for a small chunk in the upper right hand corner of the land mass.)

it could have been anything from an earth quake to wars that caused it's demise.

i think edgar cayce said there were 2 cataclysms that broke up atlantis a couple thousand yrs apart. i think the last disaster was allegedly cause by a misuse of a huge crystal that was a global energy source. the crystal was being used to attack neighboring countries and the crystal blew up causing cataclysmic tidal waves, volcanoes, etc.

(this information is presented from my own sources, including an extremely fuzzy memory, and is not offered as a statement of fact, but simply as something to consider as a possibility. i do not have any data to offer in the way of proof of these statements.)

the sinking of atlantis was due to a massive earthquake on the ocean floor that was triggered by the attempted powering-up of a device intended to provide free-energy to peoples living in the region which is now referred to as the caucasus.

the technological specifications for the device were communicated by a certain atlantean faction who, against the determination of the council, felt that it would be of service to provide these peoples with this technology even though they had not reached a sufficient level of understanding as to the inner workings of the technology. as with any such device, there was potential for misuse of the device as a weapon, though this purpose was not intended by either party to the transaction.

the device was crafted in a mountainous area away from sight of the local inhabitants under the supervision of those in the rebel atlantean faction. in essence, the device functioned by means of generating an electromagnetic potential between itself and the core of the earth. release of this potential induces a discharge of energy from the earth’s core, which may then be harnessed by the device and distributed for use.

due to the nature of this energy transfer, it is critical that the device be placed on the earth’s surface in certain locations where specific geomantic and geophysical conditions allow for the transfer with minimal impact to the surrounding areas, such as can be found above vertical fault lines.

the mishap ensued due to internal conflict among the people building the device as to whether or not the device as constructed would be functional. certain individuals did not understand that the functioning of the device was dependent both upon its proper construction and placement on the earth’s surface.

these individuals were aware that the transfer of the device from its place of manufacture to its place of operation would be a tremendous task that could not be undertaken in secrecy. they therefore sought to undertake a “test run” of the device to make sure that it worked, in order to protect against the embarrassment they feared if the device failed in public.

these individuals did not trust the rebel atlanteans, and justified their own mistrust with the observation that the atlanteans appeared to be violating the trust of their own peoples. they thus conceived that the device was a trick by the atlanteans to discredit the rulers of the people so that the atlanteans could take over rulership for themselves.

when the rebel atlanteans learned of this misconception, attempts were made to reestablish trust, but they found themselves karmically entrapped by their own lack of faith in the council. it was then that a decision was made to inform the council of their actions, in hopes that the imminent disaster could be alleviated.

upon hearing this admission from the rebels, the council was charged with making decisions of long-term planetary import without input from the rest of the atlantean people. it was possible to take steps to prevent the effects of the disaster locally, though the atlanteans would not in any case be able to prevent the damage in other parts of the world.

the wisdom of the council foresaw that allowing atlantis to survive the destruction intact would result in a further polarization among the earth’s inhabitants toward the belief that the atlanteans were gods in the ensuing aftermath. this belief had already grown to be quite a hindrance to proper relations between the two cultures, and now threatened to become significantly more disruptive, if not irreparable. thus was it decided to allow atlantis to be destroyed, but to delay the effects long enough for safe evacuation of the islands.

when the rest of the atlanteans were informed of the decision made by the council, they were, of course, not all in agreement with it. a petition was then made on behalf of the dissenters to the confederation for a special dispensation to offset the potential for a massive violation of their free will. it was determined that each atlantean would be offered the opportunity to leave the planet before the disaster and return through reincarnation, to stay and go through the experience, or to be removed altogether from this particular cycle of experience. each choice offered certain advantages and drawbacks, and each individual was allowed to choose according to their own disposition with regard to the events that occurred.

when the device was powered on, it indeed drew a massive force up toward itself from the center of the earth. however there were no vertical fault lines to transmit the force, so it was radiated circumferentially until alternate pathways of expression were found.

one such pathway was the fault line present underneath atlantis that was used to power its own similar device. this resulted in a massive shifting of the ocean floor beneath the islands which led to their eventual sinking, however as stated, the extent of the damage was mitigated not in extent, but in time, to allow for safe evacuation of the inhabitants.
