rare albino tadpoles have been found in a garden pond in wales.

the tadpoles have the distinctive pink eyes and off-white skin colouration associated with albinism.

albinos have inherited altered genes that do not produce the usual amounts of the pigment melanin.

although isolated single examples of albino frogs, toads and newts have been seen before this is the first time a whole group has been found.

the exact location of the pond in carmarthenshire is being kept secret while biologists carry out more research.

jules howard of froglife, the uk wildlife charity which works for the conservation of amphibians and reptiles, said: "sightings of albino frogs are rare so to find so many tadpoles together is exceptionally rare. it seems that the albino tadpoles are already changing colour and becoming darker so we are going to have to study their metamorphosis into frogs very carefully."

appears to be alot of white or albino life being born..... this year....

frogs have an ancient mythology about them. being amphibians w/links to the water and land, they are often assoc with the magic of both elements. this also links them to the lore of fairies an delves. many shamanic societies link the frog with rain and control of the weather. its voice is said to call forth the rain

because of its connection to water, it is also linked to lunar energies (the moon moves the tide of waters upon the planet) and those goddesses assoc with the moon. the frog was an animal attributed to the egyptian goddess herit, who assisted isis in her ritual for resurrecting osiris.

frogs have been know to be heralds of abundance & fertility. the frog is a totem of metamorphosis. it is a symbol of coming into one's own creative power. it changes from an egg, to a polliwog, to a frog. it always has contact with the creative force out of which it came.

frogs are tuned keenly to sound. science has known for a long time that water is one of the best conductors of sound. this sensitivity to sound should be developed by frog people. they can learn to use their voice to stir the emotions and to call for the rains or change the climatic conditions of their own lives.

got me thinking...i remember hearing that frogs and toads are good initial indicators for the health of an ecosystem because they breathe through their skin. and i guess also pass in/out chemicals/toxins and such. if marine biologist start seeing large die-offs of frogs and toads they probably know to start testing the waters.

maybe we could add consciousness energy or aether to the early indicator list, if that is what's causing the mutation.

lets keep listening to the frogs...
