dear friends,

part two - is our existence simulated reality, or (is it) reality simulated?

the heavy stuff (ths) wants to welcome back the readers of part 1 of this post — stats show that over 3,000 unique visitors have read that posting - (thanks to about.com, dailygrail.com, crystalinks.com and anomalist.com and others) and, due to the subject matter, it would be advisible to do so before continuing with this post if you haven’t had the chance. here’s that link http://theheavystuff.com/?p=56.

of course, that `subject matter’ is the 1970’s college dorm late night favorite subject of `what is reality’? yes, younger readers, before the matrix - the very structure of realitywas something the `college heads’ thought discussion worthy. perhaps is was those higher times that allowed a clearer seeing of the thin vail of reality - the illusionrefered to by the mystics and shaman of yester ages and days gone by.

and, in part one - ths - covered the `normal’ matrixlike idea that `we’ (yes, you and i) and everything else — was simply the result of a running software program made by at least one civilization. in essence, an artifical being within an artificial reality.

in the first post, it was perhaps the logic of the `low threshold’ that was the most worrisome aspect of if we are a simulation. afterall, if only one civilization ever ——— ever — produced and ran (these are most important words) a `reality simulation software - in which ‘the spaces within the program could have self-awareness‘ ————– then — the `real odds’ of us (you and me) being real - in the manner we think of real —– may be quite small. and, that the odds we are a simulation — quite large. indeed, in part one - ths threw out some numbers to just form an opinion as to what the odds might actually be - or - to set you thinking about the hard numbers of the situation.

what happens if the program crashes. . .that would mean whorls upon whorls upon whorls. . wouldn't it?

reminds me of the alien crop circle with a computer disk in hand. crop circle appeared not to far from power lines. it was interpreted that the computer disk had a "message" in binary code, "beware of bearers of false gifts and broken promises. . .there is still good out there."

then there is the self fullfilling prophesy unfolding. .
“ the self-fulfilling prophecy is, in the beginning, a false definition of the situation evoking a new behaviour which makes the original false conception come 'true'. this specious validity of the self-fulfilling prophecy perpetuates a reign of error. for the prophet will cite the actual course of events as proof that he was right from the very beginning.[1] ”

in other words, a true prophetic statement — a prophecy declared as truth when it is not — may sufficiently influence people, either through fear or logical confusion, so that their reactions ultimately fulfill the false prophecy.

or. . .like the myth of weaving exista around the world as metaphors for creation. the spindle is often an axis mundi and its whirling whorls serve a cosmogonic function. plato, for example, had a vision of the great goddess ananke, "necessity," spinning the universe; the sun, moon, and planets were her spindle's whorls; sirens sang through the webs of time and fate that she wove, and souls endlessly moved through the strands on their way to and from death and rebirth.

so how do you escape the net of the great grandmother spider weaving her web?
or matrix in this instance.

it is an interesting analogy and i have to say i have definately questioned this too, through my own experiences of a halographic reality. . .much like awakened dreams. . . but then of course . . .even if it were so. . .i believe in bringing a little heaven too earth too.

hmmm. . .interesting. . .like in the matrix. . .which would be more pleasant the truth of the lie. . .or the reality . . .or the lie that satisfys?

hi solarwindspirit,

i don't think we do need to escape her web because her web is much different than "the matrix". recognizing the pattern is different than having to escape it.

i don't really get the theory of a software program and a holographically projected reality. if a soul or soul group is that advanced then why don't they just telepathically impose the reality onto our subconscious. but i guess maybe it's just a metaphor that some people take as real? but, i don't think science and technology can be relied upon to explain that much any more. as seth describes in the early sessions p.136, "[scientists] will be and they are prisoners of their own tools. more galaxies will seemingly be discovered, more mysterious radio stars will be perceived, until scientists realize that something is desperately wrong. instruments designed to measure the vibrations with which scientists are familiar will be designed and redesigned. all sorts, finally, of seemingly impossible phenomena will be discovered with these instruments. the instruments will be designed to catch certain camouflage and since they are expertly thought out they will perform their function."

it's similar to space travel as seth describes in book 1 of the early sessions: "there will be in the future journey through light beams that will be much more efficient [than a space vehicle]. however, even in your own camouflage universe the development of the inner senses will get you further, and only the development of the inner senses will enable you to make any possible contact with intelligences on other than your own horizontal plane." p.328

and this beautiful ending from a myth of spider woman,
"the spider woman spoke to them thus: 'the woman of the clan shall build the house, and the family name shall descend through her. she shall be house builder and homemaker. she shall mold the jars for the storing of food and water. she shall grind the grain for food and tenderly rear and teach the young. the man of the clan shall build kivas of stone under the ground. in these kivas the man shall make sand pictures as altars. of colored sand shall he make them, and they shall be called 'ponya.' the man too shall weave the clan blankets with their proper symbols. the man shall fashion himself weapons and furnish his family with game.'

stooping down, she gathered some sand in her hand, letting it run out in a thin, continuous stream. 'see the movement of the sand? that is the life that will cause all things therein to grow. the great plumed serpent, lightning, will rear and strike the earth to fertilize it; rain cloud will pour down waters, and tawa will smile upon it so that green things will spring up to feed my children.'

her eyes now sought the above where tawa [her male counterpart] was descending toward his western kiva in all the glory of red and gold. 'i go now, but have no fear, for we two will be watching over you. look upon me now, my children, ere i leave. obey the words i have given you, and all will be well. if you are in need of help, call upon me, and i will send my sons to your aid.'

the people gazed wide-eyed upon her shining beauty. her woven upper garment of soft white wool hung tunic-wise over a blue skirt. on its left side was woven a band bearing the butterfly and squash blossom, in designs of red and yellow and green with bands of black appearing in between. her neck was hung with heavy necklaces of turquoise, shell and coral, and pendants of the same hung from her ears. her face was fair, with warm eyes and tender lips, and her form most graceful. upon her feet were skin boots of gleaming white, and they now turned toward where the sand spun about in whirlpool fashion. she held up her right hand and smiled upon them, then stepped upon the whirling sand. wonder of wonders, before their eyes the sands seemed to suck her swiftly down until she disappeared entirely from their sight."

spider woman sounds pretty cool!

best,
stacy
