i was feeling a little angry at my brother because he wasn't initiating contact or answering my emails. then this morning out of the blue he sends this with a note saying i live too far away.

by the end of it i was definitely having a good cry and my anger had fizzled.

hoping this helps someone else!!

hi megan

i just watched the video you posted. i thought it was such a beautiful, peaceful, loving thing for someone to do to offer themselves freely to others in such a way. it made me feel happy.

talk about service to others.

what i found even more intriguing was that people were actually going for it! i guess there are a lot of people out there that just need a hug.

i'm glad it helped bring you and your brother closer together. living far away from your loved ones must be very difficult at times.

your fellow ontarian

i actually bought a "free hugs" t-shirt after i watched this a couple months ago. i was hoping to spread some love too but so far i've had no takers. whenever i wear it, people will smile at me or say "cute shirt," but sadly they seem afraid to take that leap and hug a stranger.

sometimes it's good to get away from all of the details about sts, sto and whatnot and remember the broader goal that we are all after: a society, a world where this kind of thing happens without the sign being necessary (and certainly doesn't warrant a police response):

man, that was great. i almost cried watching it.
